Maximal stability limits in adolescents with Tourette syndrome
نویسندگان
چکیده
We explored if adolescents with Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS) had functional postural control impairments and how these deficits are linked to a disturbance in the processing integration of sensory information. evaluated displacements center pressure (COP) during maximal leaning four directions (forward, backward, rightward, leftward) under three conditions (eyes open, eyes closed, closed standing on foam). GTS showed stability lateral adjustments but they similar COP excursion than group. The performance group was poorer open condition (time phase 1 onset, max-mean COP). Moreover, displayed ability maintain maximum position mediolateral tasks. By contrast, forward leaning, larger min-max ranges subjects while foam closed. Together, findings support idea that produces subclinical deficits. Importantly, our results suggest disorders highly sensitive voluntary tasks which have high demand for multimodal integration.

متن کاملTourette Syndrome
A retrospective analysis of a 35-year single-center experience with pediatric tics and Tourette syndrome was conducted. 482 charts from 1972 to 2007 were reviewed. Follow-up surveys were mailed to last known address and 83 patients responded (17%). Response rate was affected by long interval from last visit; contact information was often incorrect as it was the address of the patient as a child...
متن کاملDeutetrabenazine in Tics Associated with Tourette Syndrome
BACKGROUND Deutetrabenazine, an inhibitor of vesicular monoamine transporter type 2 (VMAT2) depletes presynaptic dopamine and is useful in the treatment of hyperkinetic movement disorders. This study explored the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of deutetrabenazine in adolescents with moderate-to-severe tics associated with Tourette syndrome (TS). METHODS In this open-label stud...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of the present study was to analyze the frequency and type of speech disfluencies in a relatively large group of individuals with Tourette's syndrome (TS) and to compare their results with similar speech data from a control group of unselected individuals. METHOD Self-report data, as well as conversation and reading samples, were obtained from 69 children diagnosed with ...
متن کاملPsychosocial outcome and psychiatric comorbidity in older adolescents with Tourette syndrome: controlled study.
BACKGROUND Children with Tourette syndrome generally experience improvement of tics by age 18 years, but psychosocial and comorbidity outcomes at this age are unclear. AIMS To compare psychosocial outcomes and lifetime comorbidity rates in older adolescents with Tourette syndrome and controls. We hypothesised a priori that individuals with Tourette syndrome would have lower Children's Global ...
